According to the World Health Organization,
more than 10 million people are diagnosed with cancer every year,
and it is estimated that this will rise to 15 million new cases every
year by 2020. There are more than 200 different types of cancer, each
with its own name and treatment.
The risk of developing cancer increases with age, with over 70% of
newly diagnosed cases occurring in people aged 60 years and above.
Many people with cancer can be cured. For those who can't, there are
treatments available which can control the cancer for months or even
years.
