Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

COPD is a chronic respiratory disorder that progressively worsens lung function and limits airflow. Its symptoms include shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing and increased sputum production. The disease progresses with age, leading to sufferers being unable to perform normal daily activities.

While smoking is the main cause of COPD, passive exposure to cigarette smoke and exposure to severe air pollution also contribute to its development. COPD may ultimately result in early death.
