According to the World Health Organisation, the number of people living with HIV
globally has reached its highest level, with an estimated 40.3 million people in 2005.
More than three million died of AIDS-related illnesses in the same year, out of which
more than 500,000 were children.
As a leading pharmaceutical company with a strong commitment to corporate citizenship,
Pfizer is proud to contribute to the battle against AIDS by partnering and supporting the
Women's & Children's Healthcare Foundation's HIV Prevention Study.
The study aims to develop an effective and sustainable peer education framework for HIV prevention
among youth communities in universities, junior colleges and secondary schools. It also
hopes to provide a platform for the young adults to receive support and guidance
through counselling.
